History:
NOTA BENE! Costin has a twin sister, Daphne, who belongs to KayVeeDee; you can see her app here: [link] . Their histories are very involved with each other, and follow the same basic framing, but of course, Costin’s history is more oriented toward himself!

Costin lived his childhood with his family just outside of Canalave City, in a gypsy camp in the forest. In the camp was his traditional extended family, parents, and (slightly younger) twin sister Daphne. Out of the two, he was the more quiet, observant, and less-outgoing twin. While Daphne tended to go with her father at times to the docks where he worked, Costin preferred to stay at the camps. It only took a couple of visits to the city to see he wasn't welcome there, and the injuries his sister received only proved his point farther. He preferred to go out exploring the wilderness by his lonesome, exploring and collecting treasures he could find in the woods. Though he was quiet at the time and kept to himself, he lacked patience. He never kept still long enough, and was always fidgeting and squirming when told to keep still. Except, when his mother told him stories. (He was aways a mama's boy at heart.) Those stories were the few things he looked upon his childhood fondly of, stories of robin hood heroes to save the day, to save the poor and condemn the rich, the same who left bruises on his sister's once clean cheeks.

At about 14, the twins began to see the camp suffer. Not only was the income becoming slim, the forest Costin once loved was being ripped of its resources. It was around this time Daphne came to Costin with a plan- a plan to have their revenge, to get what was rightfully theirs from the dock owners. At first he turned her away- he without a second thought condemned the plan as morally wrong. But after days of watching his family wither, his forest dying, and Daphne telling him of the horrid things that rich had done to them, he was swayed to cooperate-- to become the hero his mother once told him stories of. She ran him through, assuring him that he only needed to swindle the rich children out of enough money to make up from the father’s small income. It was hard at first, he was nervous and paranoid, but after awhile he began to get the hang of it. Watching them, seeing how they acted- what these rich kids cared about, how to gain their trust and make them believe in him, and let him deceive them. For awhile, he was scared to what he was becoming, almost being consumed by his own lies, his ‘other self’-- a self where he confident, even cocky, and selfish. The guilt overwhelmed him, and he could see it in his sister’s eyes too. All they could do was hide their wrongful deeds and convince themselves it must be done, it was for the whole family- they needed it. And it was that hint of truth, that they did need it, that made them believe in everything they were doing.

It wasn’t till one day, when Costin and Daphne were in their late teens, some local guards stormed into the camp, demanding the arrest of Daphne and Costin for thievery, fraud, and physical assault. Unaware of his sister’s actions- attacking a rich Mincinno who had cursed Costin’s name after he conned her, and stealing her father’s ruby brooch- he was shocked and devastated. After hours of arguing between the authorities, the guards, and the family, they twins where let off with a warning, that their next offense would lead to their imprisonment.

What came was worse then imprisonment in Costin’s eyes. The family was dismayed and disappointed with the twins, as they had broken the rules on morality and public behavior. With the shame they brought the family, they two had to be expelled from the camp for good. Costin left with his sister in a caravan across Sinnoh, for them to fend for themselves in the world. After many months of regret, Daphne began to assure herself it was the family’s fault- he forgave her of course, and still loved her dearly. But Costin couldn’t cope, and he never completely left his state of guilt and regret. The hardest part was when he tried to sleep, and he relived the moment of when he last saw his mother- her teary and red pained eyes which gave him one last glance of disappointment before she turned her back on him forever.

He and his sister traveled nomadically across Sinnoh for many months. Eventually they both began to be weary of the traveling life and began to hope for a fresh start, somewhere they could stay without being looked down upon for their lack of talents needed in modern day society. And their answers were called, when one day they came across a letter. A not only was it just a letter- it was an invitation, to mysterious island they had never heard of- an island called Steam. They both were enthusiastic for their fresh start, and a chance for Costin to regain faith in himself. While not looking forward to returning to Canalave to catch the ship, the idea of being able to start over again and have a place for them to stay permanently was worth the heartbreak it would bring them returning to their home.

Personality: Costin is a dreamer, and much less high-strung then his sister. He doesn't look at things cynically, and tries to see the rosier hues of life. But often, he doesn’t show that more sensitive and delicate part of his personality- only to those he absolutely trusts. Most of the time, he acts like his ‘other self,’ a more chatty and sweet faced, and occasionally sarcastic self who’s much more outgoing. He even likes pulling pranks occasionally and annoying those close to him, especially his sister. He still retains his easy-goingness and it takes a lot to make him angry beyond his control. He’s retained his sharp observations and curiosity that he gained of when he used to con people, but sometimes he can get a bit out of control and get a little bit to personal and lack an idea of invading people’s privacy. Ironically however, he is hesitant to let people come close to him, as he’s afraid that they may learn of his past and scorn him. He can also be quite moody even though he hides it behind his aloof personality, remember things people say that upset him for months. He secretly is a somewhat of a people pleaser as well, never wanting to get on some one's bad side. But if someone is hurting one of his friends or his sister and words will not pacify them, he will not be afraid to con them and hurt them in return.

-Grass Whistle: He plays a slow, relaxing song on his reed flute that can lull (almost) anyone to sleep.
-Swagger: Girl, you haven't seen swagger 'till Costin lays it out for you. (jk.)
-Covet: With a trusting smile and ninja like hands, he's able to snatch anything out of your pockets without you noticin’ a thing
-Charm: With sweet lies, he charms you into trusting him. He doesn’t actually like doing this much, (guilty conscience) but to survive he’ll do it.

Extras:
Costin is the older twin by 10 minutes.
Though he loves stories, he cannot read. He often tries to teach himself when he is alone, but often gets flustered and frustrated before he makes any progress, and quits.
Costin still loves his parents, and wants to try and seek their forgiveness, especially from his mother. He can sense Daphne does not feel the same way, though she hasn't admitted it. He wants to try and bring his family back together.
Costin is quite talented at playing his reed flute, and likes to play it and create songs in his spare time. He sees it as his equivalent to writing, except with more emotion. He doesn't know why everyone falls asleep whenever he starts playing it though.
He likes to joke around with his sister and call her nicknames that make her annoyed. (Daffodil, Daffy)
Costin has tried to cut his hair. Many times. No matter how hard he tries though, it manages to grow back just as fast as he hacked it off.
Costin likes nature a lot! He has a scrapbook of leaves and other things.
Costin’s favorite weather is rain, and he likes to be in high up places. He gets sea-sick really easily though and avoids water travel if he can.
He tries to be a real lady killer, but most of the time he fails. Horribly.
